AST’s 2012 Season Ends on Sunday!

We already closed an amazing run of Twelfth Night, and there are only two performances each left of Big RiverRichard III, and The Tempest. These outstanding productions have been receiving rave reviews from audiences and critics alike. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette said that AST’s production of Big River, “showcased the skills of the large talented cast and the musical’s enduring appeal” and calls the work of De’Lon Grant (as the runaway slave Jim) and Alex Goley (as the infamous Huck Finn) “excellent…it’s a bonus that they sound so well together.”

Richard III recently received three mini-reviews full of praise from the Oxford American. Of Dan Matisa’s performance in the title role they write that Matisa “gives a quietness and inwardness to Richard that isn’t generic and which serves, in truth, to stretch the character from Evil Incarnate to there-but-for-the-grace-of-God-(and our lowly rank)-go-we.”  In fact, the entire production is “recommend(ed) fully to anybody seeking a memorable theater-going experience.” Special recognition is given to the AST players who ”prove once and for all that Shakespeare wrote for the streets. He wrote for us.”

We are honored and humbled by the incredible response to our productions this season, and hope you will make plans to join us in our final weekend!
