Dear Friend,

Happy Holidays from Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre! Your support, kind words, and involvement made 2013 a season we will never forget. We are poised to return the favor by dazzling you in 2014 with our first-ever production of Hamlet, produced with our unique intimate on-stage seating. The comedic gem Two Gentlemen of Verona will appear outdoors at The Village at Hendrix and in the Argenta Arts District, the Broadway hit musical Pippin will dance into Reynolds Performance Hall at our home of UCA, and our adaptation of The Comedy of Errors will delight young audiences in venues all over the state, offering something to tempt every theater-goer. As the end of the year approaches, please include AST in your charitable gift-giving. We are a non-profit organization that depends on your donations for a full one-third of our budget—which means that the actors you enjoy, the costumes they wear, the sets that they stand on, and everything that you see on stage is directly funded by your generosity!

We’ve been busy drawing attention to our one-of-a-kind professional company in the last few months and will continue building towards the summer season with our Bard Ball, this year to be held on March 7th, 2014, in the Junior League Building (formerly the Women’s City Club) in Little Rock. The event will feature Jordan Coughtry, who returns this summer to star in Hamlet, previewing his original musical selections from the upcoming Two Gentlemen of Verona.

If you have not renewed your membership yet, you may do so at www.arkshakes.com, or by returning the enclosed envelope with your fully tax-deductible donation. This year your donation goes twice as far—a devoted donor has agreed to match every financial contribution dollar-for-dollar up to $30,000 in order to work towards an Equity Actor Fund to ensure that we are able to bring the most skilled and talented actors in the country to work at our festival. In order to provide such quality entertainment and educational opportunities, we must have your support. And, of course, thanks to all of you who have already shown AST financial support this year. We are giddy with excitement about what AST will bring to you in 2014!

Warmly,

Mary Ruth Marotte
