Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre relies on a talented team of interns and staff members to make its performances possible. In addition to the responsibilities listed below, all interns will participate in set-up, changeovers, strike and may be asked to participate in other projects as necessary. This year’s internship session runs from May 13, 2014, to July 5, 2014. Interns will be paid $1,000 plus a housing stipend.
Description: The Properties Intern will assist the Props Master in gathering, construction and alteration of all props. Additionally, the Properties Intern will be responsible for running and maintaining props during the run of the shows. The AST summer season will consist of three mainstage shows and one children’s show. The ideal candidates will have experience in basic tool usage, prop assemblage and run crews.
Description: Carpentry Interns will build, install and strike all sets for the summer productions. They may also be called to be on run crews for one or more productions. Carpentry interns must be educated in the safe operation of hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools and MIG welding.

Description: The Paint intern will assist the Charge Artist in painting scenery and drops for our summer repertory season.
Paints internship applicants must:
Description: Costume Interns are responsible for garment construction and alterations. Additionally, each Costume Intern will also assist one of the AST Costume Designers in managing the wardrobe of a particular show and heading up the wardrobe crew for that show. Costume Interns will also serve on the wardrobe crews of other shows. The AST summer season will consist of three mainstage shows and one children’s show with three designers, one Costume Shop Supervisor, one Cutter/ Draper, two first hands, and four intern/ wardrobe/ designer assistants. The ideal candidates will have experience in basic garment construction, alterations and wardrobe management.
Description: The Electrics Intern will assist the Master Electrician with the hanging and focusing of all season lighting plots. The intern will also run the lighting board for some or all productions.
Electrics internship applicants must:
Description: Sound Intern will assist the Sound Engineer and Master Electrician. Sound intern may have opportunity to engineer one of our shows, depending on experience.

Description: The Master Electrician’s responsibilities include (but are not limited to) overseeing the crew of electricians and assisting the Lighting Designer in the hang, focus, and maintenance for the summer productions.

Description: The AST First Hands are responsible for garment construction and alterations. First Hands will also assist the Cutter/ Draper, as needed, in patterning and cutting. The AST summer season consists of three mainstage shows and one children’s show with three designers; one Costume Shop Supervisor; one Cutter/ Draper; two First Hands and four Intern/ wardrobe/ designer assistants. The ideal candidates are experienced in garment construction and alterations and also have some experience with garment patterning and cutting.
